AMI-audio has announced its programming for 2024-25, which includes a new audio and video podcast as well as the return of existing audio programs.
The non-profit will launch the AMI Today podcast, which promotes literacy, technological literacy and advocacy through animated, audio and video interviews on YouTube. Other podcasts returning with new episodes on YouTube are Low Vision Moments (pictured), which features funny experiences that happen when a person is blind or partially sighted; The Pulse, narrated by host Joeita Gupta who leads a discussion on issues affecting the disabled community in Canada; and Tripping On Air, which reveals what it’s really like to live with chronic illness.
AMI will also release new episodes of existing audio programs, including audio selections from newspapers and magazines, including The Globe and Mail Today, Maclean’s Magazine, The Washington Post This Week, which curates the most thought-provoking perspectives published by the newspaper and The Guardian Daily, with articles from the British newspaper focusing on political, economic and environmental issues. Also returning: Double Tap, an audio program about reviews and technology news of interest to people who are members of the blind, partially sighted and disabled community; My Life in Books with Red Széll, featuring interviews with authors talking about their lives and works; Voices of The Walrus, which brings to life essays, fiction and poetry from some of Canada’s best writers; Kelly and Ramya; a discussion of arts, entertainment and lifestyle issues of interest to people with visual impairments; AMI Audiobook Review, which includes content about audiobooks created by authors, listeners and regular contributors; and Outdoors with Lawrence Gunther, which provides news about outdoor activities and tips for experiencing the outdoors with a guide dog.
Focused on entertaining and informing Canadians with disabilities, AMI owns AMI-audio in English, AMI-TV, and AMI-télé in French TV channels, as well as the AMI+ ad-free streaming platform. Its audio programs are available on its website and on all major podcasting apps and platforms. AMI-audio is also broadcast on basic cable on CBC News Network’s Secondary Audio Programming.
