Fubo introduces ad opportunities with Premier League kick-off

The new ad units includes banner ads with enhanced targeting capabilities.

Live sports streaming platform Fubo has launched four new CTV ad units.

The new Scoreboard ad unit includes high-impact placements that will appear during the English Premier League matches, with static brand logos and digital creatives embedded in the scoreboard throughout the game play; content carousels on the Fubo home screen, with branded backgrounds, custom titles, subheads and logo placements; ads that appear seconds after a viewer presses pause and include a QR code for additional engagement; and classic banner ads, with enhanced targeting capabilities, which will give advertisers more precision in reaching their audiences.

The streamer is launching the unit to coincide with the English Premier League season, which started on Aug. 16. The unit will expand the volume and variety of Fubo’s advertising offering as the popularity of sports programming continues to grow, says the company, adding that the blocks will be a tool for brands to reach an engaged audience of sports fans and beyond.

Fubo is expanding its presence in Canada, having just partnered with Amazon to offer Fubo Sports Network on Prime Video channels. This is the first time the network is available in the country without a subscription plan on Fubo’s platform.

The company also recently succeeded in stopping the launch of The Walt Disney Company, FOX Corp. and Warner Bros. Discovery’s Venu Sports joint venture in the U.S. after its request for an injunction was approved. David Gandler, co-founder and CEO of Fubo, said the decision will help ensure that consumers have access to a more competitive marketplace with multiple sports streaming options. According to Fubo, the joint venture would have controlled 60% to 80% of live-streamed sports content.

Venu Sports was set to be launched in Canada this fall. The platform includes offerings from 14 linear networks such as ESPN, SEC Network, ACC Network, ABC, FOX, and TNT.
