Media Moves: Rogers, La Presse, Paramount and X

In case you missed it, here are the new tools and channels being launched by mediacos.

Rogers adds new channels to its network

Following its recent multi-year agreement with NBCUniversal and Warner Bros. Discovery, Rogers Communications is launching HGTV, Food Network, Magnolia, Discovery ID, Discovery and Bravo TV channels.

The Bravo channel will be available this fall, with new seasons of The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City; The Real Housewives of New York; Below Deck Sailing Yacht; The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills; Southern Charm; and The Real Housewives of Potomac.

In addition, Bravo will premiere new seasons of other unscripted franchises including Summer House, Top Chef and Vanderpump Rules. The channel will be available through TV service providers, on Citytv.com, and Citytv+ through Amazon Prime Video Channels.

The agreement will also enable content from Cooking, OWN, Motor Trend, Animal Planet and Discovery Science through Citytv+ on Amazon Prime Video Channels.

Atelier La Presse launches attribution tool

Atelier La Presse is launching a new tool to measure the attribution of campaigns on its platforms.

According to the company, the tool will allow for a deeper analysis of the impact of advertising on conversions and a better understanding of ROI.

“At La Presse, we firmly believe that the power of data lies in its ability to provide precise and actionable insights, while maintaining the security and confidentiality of our readership’s data,” says Floran Thoumelin, senior director, data and data advertising products.

Once advertisers see which ads in the La Presse ecosystem are most effective, the attribution tool will allow businesses to tweak their campaigns according to that information. It also allows the identification of products and audiences that contribute to the conversion process across the different campaigns.

“To implement this new tool, we studied the market, tested and analyzed the preferred strategies of the main advertisers in their performance campaigns,” explains Geneviève Roy, senior sales director at La Presse.

Paramount+ now available on Playstation 5

Canadians who want to catch the latest episodes of Yellowstone, along with any other Paramount+ series, have another way to do it, so long as they have a Playstation5 – the Paramount+ app is now available on the console.

“In the new media landscape, viewers expect us to meet them where they are, and this collaboration is a perfect example of us delivering our premium content to a whole new audience in a new space,” said Doug Smith, SVP streaming and content licensing, Canada, Paramount Global.

The streaming service, which is also available through Amazon Prime, features a library of original series and popular movies from studios including Showtime, BET, CBS, Comedy Central, MTV, Nickelodeon, Paramount Pictures and the Smithsonian Channel, in addition to local content.

X tests a video conferencing tool

Elon Musk’s social network, X, plans to compete with Zoom, Google Meet and Microsoft Teams with a new video conferencing tool.

Similar to other platforms, users of the X tool will be able to create new meetings directly from the iOS app, either instantly or scheduled for later. The conferencing feature could also allow hosts to set a unique code for each meeting that participants must enter when joining.

One of X’s employees, Chris Park, posted last week that the company had held its first internal conference through the tool. Park said initial feedback from the team was positive and that the company will likely work on features such as the ability to pin speakers and notify when people are joining or leaving the call. The feature doesn’t have a clear release date or implementation plan yet. X is planning to roll it out after enabling a call feature earlier this year.
