Ray Balberman (pictured) has joined Canadian Tire as associate VP of media strategy and planning. Balberman spent more than five years as director of media strategy at Loblaw, where he led a team that guided annual and campaign planning for CPG companies whose products are sold through the retailer. Previously, he was a strategist and senior media executive at EssenceMediacom, where he worked with a wide range of stakeholders (brand managers, creative agencies, research firms, media publishers) to develop multichannel media plans that responded to brand needs.

GumGum has promoted its sales director Byron Bookbinder to group sales director. In his new role, Bookbinder will focus on mentoring other sales leaders. He has been with GumGum for nearly two years. Previously, Bookbinder worked at agencies including Mindshare and Theo, where he held the position of director of programmatic.

GumGum has also hired Maria Scrieciu as account executive for its Canada team. Scrieciu has experience in programmatic advertising, customer relationships, data analytics and multichannel marketing campaigns. Previously, she worked for over three years at Dentsu as a digital buyer, where she honed her skills in managing campaigns across B2B and B2C verticals.
