Corus is expanding deals with its studio partners to include 173 hours of new content in Slice’s Fall programming, following the announcement that Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) will not renew some of its programming and brand distribution agreements when they expire on December 31.
As a result, content on some specialty channels operated by Corus, including HGTV Canada, Food Network Canada, Cooking Channel, Magnolia Network and OWN, will be affected.
Last month, Corus also filed a complaint with the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) over the agreements Rogers signed with Disney and WBD. Corus alleged that Rogers has given itself undue preference after adding the Disney+ advertising tier to its existing plans, and after signing a multi-year licensing deal with WBD’s HGTV, Food Network, Magnolia Network and Cooking Channels.
Slice’s new Fall lineup will include licensed shows from Paramount, AMC Networks’ We TV and Lionsgate, such as The Daily Show (pictured) hosted by Jon Stewart; The Real Murders of Los Angeles, which exposes the dark underbelly of the city’s glamorous facade; Face to Face with Scott Peterson, which takes a fresh look at the case of Scott Peterson, who was convicted of murdering his wife and unborn child; and Deadly Waters with Captain Lee, about notable unsolved crimes on the high seas.
Other titles joining the programming include True Crime News, based on the Corus podcast in which journalist Ana Garcia investigates both closed and active criminal cases; TikTok Star Murders, about a true crime case that shocked the social media users; The Braxtons, starring artist Toni Braxton and her family as they deal with their careers, health issues and busy personal lives; Married to the Game (U.K.), which shows the behind-the-scenes with Premier League soccer stars; Tia Mowry: My Next Act, which follows the life of actress Tia Mowry following her divorce; Mama June: Family Crisis, about a family as they face their greatest challenges and triumphs; and Love After Lockup and Love After Lockup: Life After Lockup, which shares stories of love that go beyond prison walls.
There will also be new movies and episodes of returning comedy shows, such as The Goldbergs; Will & Grace; The Neighborhood; and Ghosts. The programming will be streamed through StackTV, available on Amazon Prime Video Channels, the Bell Fibe TV app, Fubo, Rogers Ignite TV and Ignite Streaming.
