The latest AdEase report found that McDonald’s was the most active advertiser during the week of Sep. 16 to 22.

With 2,724 combined occurrences, the QSR came in first in Vancouver and Calgary, while finishing second in Montreal and third in Toronto. The restaurant chain, which had dominated the TV market for five consecutive weeks, recorded 2,998 total occurrences in AdEase’s previous report.

The second most active advertiser was Leon’s Furniture, with 1,788 total occurrences, followed by Subaru (1,691 occurrences) and Toyota (1,595 occurrences). Compared to the last buying week, Leon’s and Toyota increased their TV spend, while Subaru decreased it.

Among the advertisers that moved up significantly on the list were Toyota, which jumped 178 and 87 spots in Vancouver and Toronto, respectively; A&W Restaurant, which climbed 150 positions in Calgary; and Loto-Quebec, which rose 43 places in Montreal.

On the category side, the groups that moved the most were local government in Montreal; department stores in Calgary; and corporate promotion in Vancouver. QSRs, furniture Stores and TV and streaming services were the highest-spending groups.
