The latest AdEase report shows that Toyota was the most active advertiser on radio from Sep. 23 to 29. This marks the second week in a row that the automaker has dominated the airwaves.

The company recorded 6,560 combined occurrences, 39 occurrences fewer than the previous radio buying week, and placed second in Calgary and Edmonton, third in Vancouver, fourth in Quebec, while coming in fifth in Ottawa and Toronto, and sixth in Montreal.

Tim Hortons and Subway Restaurants ranked next with 5,500 and 5,325 total occurrences, respectively, landing in all markets except Quebec. Compared to last week, the QSRs increased their audio buys. Desjardins Group came in as the fourth most active advertiser of the week with 4,530 combined occurrences, while Save-on-foods was fifth on the list with 3,800. The prior week, Desjardins recorded 1,025 incidents, while Save-on-foods made 2,527.

Among the advertisers that rose significantly in the rankings were Le Nordik Spa, which moved up 246 positions to ninth in Ottawa, and Mazda dealers, which jumped 361 and 383 positions in Quebec and Montreal, respectively.

QSRs, grocery stores and supermarkets, dine-in restaurants and bars, and import SUVs were some of the highest-spending groups.
