The latest AdEase report shows that Spence Diamonds did not move from the leading position, continuing to be the most active advertiser for the week of Dec. 9 to 15.

With 11,187 combined occurrences, Spence came in first in Vancouver, Edmonton, Ottawa and Toronto, while it finished second in Calgary. The retailer increased its spend considerably from the previous week, when it scored 6,441 total occurrences.

Shoppers Drug Mart continued as the second most active advertiser with 5,962 combined occurrences, followed by McDonald’s, with 3,918, and Government Of Alberta, with 3,824. Compared to the previous radio buying week, Shoppers increased its spend, while McDonald’s and Government Of Alberta decreased it.

Among the advertisers that moved up the most on the list were British Columbia Automobile, which climbed 114 positions to tenth in Vancouver; Nissan, which jumped 78 positions to tenth in Ottawa; and Metro, which moved up 54 positions to fourth in Quebec. Meanwhile, the groups that rose the most were unions (176 positions in Vancouver) and import SUVs (60 and 92 positions in Toronto and Montreal, respectively).

Pharmacies and drug stores; grocery stores and supermarkets; and jewelry stores were among the highest-spending groups.
