Bell and Corus Entertainment have expanded their multi-year agreement for Bell TV to carry Flavour Network and Home Network, as well as Global and a suite of Corus’ news, drama and lifestyle TV networks across its Fibe TV and Satellite TV offerings. The expanded agreement builds upon the prior launch of StackTV – Corus’ multi-channel streaming service – on the Bell Fibe TV app. StackTV will also include Flavour Network and Home Network.
The news of the expanded agreement comes as Corus announced another quarter of losses. The network saw a decrease in consolidated revenue of 12% and a consolidated segment profit decrease by 30%. While John Gossling, co-CEO and CFO assured investors that these losses were in-line with its first quarter outlook, adding that cutting further costs would be a priority.
“In the near term, we expect new winter programming to support positive trends in both news and entertainment audiences, and we look forward to building on the successful launch of our new lifestyle brands, Flavour Network and Home Network, which have already proven popular with viewers and advertisers,” said Troy Reeb, co-chief executive officer.
Flavour Network and Home Network offer viewers content in food, cooking, home design, décor and real estate, with audience favourites like Top Chef Canada and Renovation Resort. In addition, the networks offer old episodes of U.S. shows such as House Hunters International, Home Town, Chopped and Beat Bobby Flay, plus new titles like Extreme Makeover: Home Edition and Gordon Ramsay’s Food Stars.
