IKEA emerged as the top radio advertiser during the week of March 24 to 30, according to AdEase.
The retailer scored 6,249 combined occurrences, leading in Calgary and Edmonton, and ranking among the top in Toronto, Vancouver and Montreal with an ad promoting its mattresses.
The marketer has been running its “u up?” campaign, sending direct messages to selected Canadians who were up in the middle of the night with an offer of a free mattress. The company attempts to attract the attention of consumers looking for better sleep solutions while also promoting the brand in a competitive market.
Government of Canada took second place with 6,085 occurrences, a significant drop of 2,020 from the previous week, while Toyota secured third place, boosting its presence with 4,822 occurrences. Rounding out the top five were Subway Restaurants, which increased its buy to 4,792 occurrences, and the Liberal Party of Canada with 3,480 occurrences (also up from last week).
Among the biggest movers were Subaru, which leapt 73 positions to ninth place in Toronto, and Canadian National Sportsmen’s Shows, which gained 106 positions in Quebec.
QSRs, furniture stores, internet services, jewelry stores and courier and mail services were the highest spending groups.
