Bell Media has named Matt McGowan as its SVP, business solutions, a newly created position aimed at strengthening the company’s advertising sales and partnership strategies. The announcement marks another step for Bell Media as it continues its transition from a traditional broadcaster to digital-first media company.
McGowan, who takes on the role effective immediately, brings nearly 30 years of experience in media and technology. Most recently, he served as managing director and GM for Snap Canada, where he helped expand the company’s Canadian market presence.
His departure from the social media company was announced late last week, which followed the departure of Bell Media sales vet Perry MacDonald, who left his SVP role in March.
“Matt is a focused, forward-thinking leader with a proven ability to cultivate a high-performing team culture and drive business results,” said Sean Cohan, president of Bell Media, highlighting the strategic importance of McGowan’s role in accelerating the company’s evolution. “I look forward to collaborating with Matt as Bell Media continues to transform from leading Canadian broadcaster to digital media and content leader with global impact.”
Before Snap, McGowan held executive roles at Adestra and Google, where he contributed to expanding the latter company’s ad business in Canada. His industry experience also includes advisory roles with Visa, IAB Canada, and StrawberryFrog.
