IKEA leads radio ranking for second week in a row

The furniture and government sectors see significant gains in the latest AdEase report.

According to the latest AdEase report, IKEA remained as the most active radio advertiser for the week of March 31 to April 6, with 7,034 total occurrences.

The retailer ranked in every market except Quebec, taking first place in Toronto, second in Calgary and Edmonton, fifth in Vancouver, seventh in Montreal and 10th in Ottawa. With 6,249 ad occurrences in the previous radio buying week, IKEA has been actively promoting its mattress across various platforms this year. In February, it targeted Canadians who stay up late on Instagram, sending them direct messages with an offer of a free mattress as part of its “u up?” OOH campaign.

Government of Canada came in second with 7,027 occurrences, a significant increase of 942 from the previous week. Spence Diamonds took third place, boosting its ad occurrences to 4,831, while Ford jumped into fourth place with 3,797 occurrences after not ranking in the previous AdEase report. Government of Alberta rounded out the top five, increasing its ad occurrences to 3,677.

On the category side, furniture stores surpassed QSRs as the top spending group. It was followed by grocery stores and supermarkets, TV and streaming services, jewellery stores and automobile-related categories such as automotive imports general and auto repair services.
