CosmoBlue Media rebranding after Cineplex Store acquisition

The move signals a deepened investment in the Canadian market, the company says.

CosmoBlue Media announced Wednesday it is entering the Canadian market with the acquisition of the Cineplex Store and rebranding as CosmoGO, a multi-platform destination.

After recently acquiring the Cineplex Store from Cineplex Entertainment, CosmoBlue Media says the Canadian rollout is being led by Tanuka Roy, newly appointed GM for Canada, and signals an investment in local content delivery from expanded theatrical offerings and live events to a global content library.

CosmoBlue Media’s plan to build on this acquisition includes expanding its theatrical offerings to exhibitors across Canada. This will include a slate of event-driven releases, from feature films to special presentations such as live concerts and sports showcases, available both in-theatre and on the CosmoGO platform.

Following the rebrand, CosmoGO will be evolving into a multi-platform service in Canada, the company says. The service will integrate pay per view (PPV), subscription video on demand (SVOD) and advertising-based video on demand (AVOD) offerings.

Loni Farhi, co-founder and group president of CosmoBlue Media, says the acquisition aligns with CosmoBlue’s vision of redefining entertainment consumption. “By integrating Cineplex Store’s rich catalog with our expertise in digital distribution, we’re set to redefine how audiences engage with premium content,” Farhi says. “Furthermore, this marks one of our major investments in Canada, reaffirming our commitment to this thriving market.”
