People Moves: Active International names managing director in Canada

Plus, Marketbridge brings on board a senior director of media.

Active International has promoted Scott Miles (pictured on the left) to managing director of its Canadian office.

In his new role, Miles will focus on growing client partnerships, unlocking new opportunities and guiding Active’s evolution in the Canadian market.

Miles joined the organization in 2011 as a media assistant. He then rose through the ranks in client solutions and strategy, becoming client solutions manager, senior director and VP. He most recently served as chief client officer, having helped build the company’s national client strategy, mentored new executives and driven long-term value for brands across Canada.

“Scott’s focus on client success and the values that define our culture have been instrumental in our evolution,” said Andrew Bulmer, president of Active International Canada and Involved Media North America.

Active is a corporate trade and media company. It provides media planning and buying services, though its traditional area of expertise helping companies manage excess inventory and recover write-downs (which it largely provides in the form of funding media budgets).

In 2023, the company announced that it had hired former SVP and chief client officer at Dentsu’s Carat Caroline Breton to launch and lead Involved Media in Canada. The media agency, an already established brand in the U.S. and Australia, offers unbiased advice based on results and is focused on working with mid-market brands, as well as global brands seeking local media expertise in Canada.

Since then, Active has continued to provide its commercial and corporate media buying services as a separate division.
