According to the latest AdEase report, IKEA maintained its position as the top radio advertiser for the week of April 21 to 27, marking its second consecutive week at the forefront.

The retailer led the radio advertising pack with 8,189 occurrences, topping Calgary and Toronto, while ranking third in Vancouver and Edmonton, fifth in Montreal and ninth in Ottawa. This marks an increase from the previous week, when the company recorded 6,618 occurrences.

The advertiser has been actively promoting its mattresses on radio this year, complemented by campaigns on OOH and social media. Jacqueline Wark, director of marketing communications at IKEA Canada, said to MiC that as the mattress market grows more competitive, the retailer is doubling down on its marketing efforts to highlight its affordable home products. It aims to connect with Canadians looking for better sleeping solutions while positioning the brand as part of solutions for the rest of the home.

Following IKEA was Telus (6,809 combined occurrences), which boosted its radio presence from 6,036 occurrences the previous week. Toyota took third place with 6,207 total occurrences, an increase from last week, and Elections Canada ranked fourth with 5,084 occurrences, reducing its radio buy compared to the prior week.

QSRs was the top category, dominating in Edmonton, Ottawa and Toronto. Furniture stores came next, leading in Calgary, Toronto and Edmonton. Meanwhile, Political associations shone in Vancouver and Toronto, and internet services stood out in Ottawa and Montreal.
