Canada’s 2025 Young Lions winners revealed

Each Gold-winning team will compete in The Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity in June.

The Globe and Mail, the official festival representative in Canada for the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity, announced Thursday its gold-winning teams for the 2025 Canadian Young Lions Competition in the Marketers, Media, PR, Design, Print, Film and Digital categories.

This year, teams from Molson Coors Beverage Company/Uber, Cossette Media, No Fixed Address, two teams from Rethink, LG2/Carton Rogue, and Tadiem/Super Proper will represent Canada in the global contest at the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity in Cannes, France, from June 16 to 20.

Modeled after the Cannes Global Young Lions Competition, entrants received a brief and had to complete the challenge for their respective category within a 24- or 48-hour time period.

Each year the competition jury chairs select a non-profit organization as the subject of the competition briefs. This year’s selected charity was Baycrest Foundation, and the primary goal of each brief was to drive awareness and support for Baycrest’s groundbreaking work in aging and brain health, with a focus on encouraging key lifestyle changes that can help prevent cognitive decline.

Competition entries were judged by a panel of industry experts, led by Kruger Products CMO Susan Irving in the Marketers category; Brooke Leland, managing partner at Mekanism Media Canada, and Shannon Lewis, president of the Canadian Media Directors’ Council, for the Media category; and Eva Salem, senior VP of marketing and brand at Canadian Tire Corporation, and Shauna Roe, VP and CD at Edelman Canada, for PR.

The design jury panel was led by Laura Stein, partner, CCO, and Stephanie Yung, chief design officer at Zulu Alpha Kilo, while Luc Du Sault, partner and CCO with LG2 Quebec, and Mary Maddever, EVP for Realscreen and Strategy and editorial director of Brunico Communications, led the Print and Film categories.

Karen Howe, founder of The Township Group, and Sabaa Quao, president of PlusCo Venture Studio, led the Digital category.

Each gold-winning team in the Canadian contest win a prize that includes registration fees for the global competition, as well as delegate passes to the festival, flights and accommodations.
