Snap’s Q1 marks milestone for monthly active users

The tech company also saw 14% revenue growth year-over-year

Snap’s latest financial report shows an increase in revenue and daily active users. The California-based tech company also announced that Q1 marked 900 million monthly active users (MAU), on the way to its goal of 1 billion MAU.

“We surpassed an important milestone in Q1, with our community growing to over 900 million monthly active users,” Snap CEO Evan Spiegel says.

The tech company reported Tuesday a 14% year-over-year revenue increase to $1.4 million in Q1 and a 9% daily active user increase to 460 million compared to last year. “Quarterly revenue increased 14% year-over-year, driven by the progress we have made with our direct-response advertising solutions, continued momentum in driving performance for small and medium-sized businesses, and the growth of our Snapchat+ subscription business,” Spiegel says.

Additionally, the total number of Snap Star Spotlight posts grew by more than 125% year-over-year in Q1 and the number of views on Spotlight posts less than 24 hours old doubled year-over-year.

Total active advertisers grew by 60% year-over-year in Q1, the company says.
