This week, MiC has enlisted execs from the Canadian media industry to offer their insights on the big programming and advertising announcements coming out of the 2025 Upfronts in New York. Today, Rob Metzger, managing director of OMG23, reports on Fox’s Upfront presentation.
At the 2025 Upfronts on Monday night, Fox announced significant investment in sports broadcasting and a broader content strategy across its four verticals – Fox Entertainment, Fox News, Tubi and Fox Sports.
As part of the announcement, Fox says it’s holding rights to the NFL, MLB and the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The main news in sports was Fox securing exclusive broadcast rights to the Indianapolis 500.
Fox also introduced Fox One, its wholly-owned direct to consumer streaming service. The network says Fox One will bring all of Fox’s leading news, sports and entertainment branded content together in one streaming platform. For the first time, viewers will have live streaming and on-demand access to the full portfolio of Fox brands, including Fox News, Fox Business, Fox Weather, Fox Sports, FS1, FS2, BTN, Fox Deportes, Fox Local Stations and the Fox network, as well as the option to bundle Fox Nation within one platform.
Meanwhile, Tubi, Fox’s free streaming platform, with its 200+ originals, is focusing on a younger audience. Among them: two high school-centric dramas, Kissing Is the Easy Part and How to Lose a Popularity Contest.
Fox also announced it’s doubling down on its signature Sunday night animation block. The buzzworthy addition this year is Breaking Bear, an edgy new animated series. The show joins classics including The Simpsons, Family Guy and Bob’s Burgers under the “Animation Domination” umbrella.
Additional information on some of the new Fox programming coming this season includes dramatic thriller Memory of a Killer; comedy Best Medicine; animated series American Dad!; competition game show 99 to Beat; celebrity show Celebrity Weakest Link; Fear Factor: The Next Chapter; and Next Level Baker, a four-part winter holiday special hosted by Gordon Ramsay.
