McDonald’s maintained its top spot as the most dominant advertiser on the AdEase Radio ranking for the week of June 2 to 8, according to the firm’s latest report.
The advertiser dominated the list, claiming the top spot in nearly every market, with the exception of Edmonton and Vancouver, where it placed second. The quick-service giant accumulated 13,512 combined occurrences, with a significant focus on promoting deals on signature items like the Big Mac, 6-piece McNuggets, McChicken and Filet-O-Fish. In recent weeks, the advertiser topped the list with campaigns highlighting summer menu items and drinks, including a popular promotion featuring a snack-sized milkshake or sundae for $2 plus tax.
After a brief absence, IKEA rebounded to the AdEase rankings, securing second place with 5,598 total occurrences. The retailer made a strong comeback with an ad campaign focused on its sleep products, following a successful April campaign that promoted its mattresses on radio, OOH and social media.
Spence Diamonds finished third with 4,159 total occurrences, marking a decline from the previous week. Indeed followed in fourth place with 3,584 occurrences, while PC President’s Choice secured fifth spot with 3,355 occurrences, both seeing an increase in occurrences compared to the prior week.
On the category front, QSRs consistently ranked high across cities, including Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, Ottawa, Toronto and Montreal, making it a clear leader in the industry. Grocery stores and supermarkets also frequently appeared in the top categories. Local government and furniture stores are also prominent in several cities, with local government being particularly notable in Calgary, Edmonton, Ottawa and Toronto, and furniture stores having a strong presence in Vancouver and Montreal. As a category, dine-in restaurants and bars is significant in cities like Ottawa and Quebec City, where it tops the list.
