From puppy food to snuffle mats, Canadians can now order more than 15,000 PetSmart products directly on Skip, thanks to a new partnership between the Canadian delivery app and the pet retailer.
To launch the initiative, Skip rolled out a bright orange pet-themed truck last weekend in Toronto, and invited pet owners to grab Skip x PetSmart co-branded pet essentials like treats and toys as well as promo codes for future purchases.
Existing Skip+ members and those who signed up on the spot were entered to win gift cards and a private photo shoot for their pet.
The truck was on-site at eight major Toronto parks, including Trinity Bellwoods and Cherry Beach, with some influencers invited to attend and post in the coming weeks to help boost word of the partnership.
In addition, Skip is re-upping its pet store spot featuring familiar face Jon Hamm, who sees another shopper struggling with a large bag of pet food and tells the man he “shoulda skipped it.”
“Partnering with PetSmart is a big move in Skip’s mission to become Canadians’ go-to destination for everyday convenience,” Paul Sudarsan, Skip’s VP of retail and new verticals, said in a news release. “Now Canadians can sit and stay, while Skip handles the fetching.”
Skip last year dropped “the Dishes” from its name, as it continues to expand its network beyond restaurant delivery and into everyday retail offerings.
The company operates in more than 450 cities and towns across Canada, with more than 50,000 local restaurant, grocery, convenience and retail partners. Skip says it plans to announce more retail partnerships this summer and fall.
