McDonald’s maintained its lead as the most active advertiser on radio, according to the latest AdEase report for the week of June 9 to 15.

The QSR led the way with 13,571 combined occurrences, a slight increase from the previous week. The brand’s advertising efforts were particularly strong in Ottawa, Toronto, Montreal and Quebec City, where it ranked first, and also had a significant presence in Vancouver, Calgary and Edmonton, where it ranked second. Its ads for snack-size shakes, summer drinks and Mighty McMuffin contributed to its strong performance.

IKEA maintained its second-place position with 5,604 combined occurrences. The retailer made a strong comeback last week with an ad focused on its sleep products, following a successful campaign in April promoting its mattresses on radio, OOH and social media.

Mark’s Work Warehouse climbed to third position with 4,811 combined occurrences, after not ranking the previous week. Forzani Group and Spence Diamonds also saw increases, landing in fourth and fifth place with 4,587 and 4,480 total occurrences, respectively.

Popular categories include QSRs as well as grocery stores and supermarkets, with PC being a notable player in the latter. Furniture stores, driven by IKEA’s strong presence, and local government, with government agencies and departments, also topped the list. Additionally, categories like jewelry stores, sporting good stores, TV and streaming services, and automotive imports general showed significant advertising activity in various cities.
