Media Experts has appointed Nish Shah as its chief strategy officer.
In this newly created position, Shah will focus on enhancing Media Experts’ product offering and shaping the agency’s future work through innovative solutions, while evolving its strategic capabilities to address the changing media landscape. He will report directly to CEO Karel Wegert.
Shah brings over two decades of experience in media, marketing and strategic leadership to the role. He was most recently head of agency at Meta Canada and previously, was the chief strategy officer at Initiative Canada.
Wegert tells Media in Canada that Nish’s appointment is “more critical than ever” in the rapidly evolving media business.
“As we adapt our resources and integrate new technologies, maintaining exceptional thought leadership and strategic vision for our clients is paramount,” he says, adding that Nish’s expertise will unlock new growth opportunities for clients by reaching diverse audiences nationwide, driving long-term growth through data-driven strategies.
Since rejoining Media Experts in 2023, Wegert has focused on repositioning the agency. So far, he has carried out several restructurings, including changes to the management team. He has appointed team members for leadership roles, such as strategy VP Lindsay Garfinkle, client services VP Emily Furtado and strategy group director Taylor Guthrie.
In a previous interview with MiC, Wegert said he is now in the second phase of the agency’s revamp, focused on managing the growth of past years. “That means evolving processes where needed, investing in our people, ensuring we have the right talent in the right places and completing the work around our planning process and how it connects to our bigger ambition as an agency,” he said.
Last year, the agency added Honda to its portfolio and brought back WestJet after having worked with the brand for 15 years. The agency also began new work with TonyBet, Kings College, TVO and Netflix.
