According to the latest AdEase report, McDonald’s topped the list as the most active advertiser on radio during the week of June 16 to 22.
McDonald’s dominated the radio scene with 7,981 combined occurrences, finishing first in Ottawa, Toronto, Montreal and Quebec City. Meanwhile, it ranked fourth in Edmonton, seventh in Vancouver and eighth in Calgary. The chain’s strong performance can be attributed to its ads for snack-size shakes, sundaes and cones.
Paint company Sico Prestige made a strong return to the ranking, landing in second place with 3,258 combined occurrences of an ad offering a 30% discount on specific products. IKEA followed closely in third place with 3,173 total occurrences, sticking with its sleep product promotions. The retailer’s ad buys decreased significantly from the previous week, when it racked up 5,604 combined occurrences.
Spence Diamonds took fourth place with 4,708 combined occurrences, marking an increase from the previous week. And Crave TV followed in fifth place, boosting its presence with 4,708 occurrences.
On the category side, QSRs led the list in Toronto, Edmonton and Montreal, while grocery stores and supermarkets dominated in Ottawa and Toronto. Furniture stores were a close third, leading in Vancouver and Calgary. Jewelry stores also featured prominently, particularly in Vancouver and Edmonton. Import SUVs rounded out the top categories, with significant presence in Toronto, Montreal and Ottawa.
