The agreement adds more than 130 films and TV episodes to the FAST channel's content library in Canada.

Sony Pictures Entertainment Canada has signed a content licensing agreement with Fox-owned ad-supported streamer Tubi.

The deal sees more than 130 films and TV episodes added to Tubi’s library in Canada. Among the films are The Da Vinci CodeCaptain PhillipsThe Other GuysCloudy with a Chance of MeatballsResident Evil (2002) and all three films in the Jumanji franchise. Added series are Timeless and Mr. Mercedes.

Tubi’s Kitt Rosenfield, a senior associate for content acquisitions, brokered the deal with Sony’s Peter Hill, executive director of TV distribution for Canada.

“Sony Pictures Entertainment has been a valuable partner in expanding our diverse and ever-growing catalogue as a free streamer for all fandoms,” Samuel Harowitz, Tubi’s SVP of content acquisitions and partnerships, said in a statement.

Tubi is billed as one of the fastest growing ad-supported streamers in Canada. One in three Canadians over 18 reportedly use the service, according to Tubi, citing data from Rogers.

The streamer has commissioned several original films out of Canada to date, including Sidelined: The QB and Me and its upcoming sequel, as well as How To Lose a Popularity Contest. All three are produced by Great Pacific Media. In July, Tubi acquired writer, director and producer Lauro Chartrand-DelValle’s debut feature Protectors of the Land (DelValle Films).
