Canada Soccer, in partnership with music and entertainment services company Infinity &, has announced the first wave of Canadian music ambassadors for the Perfect Pitch program in support of the Canada Soccer Foundation.
Alessia Cara, Charlotte Cardin, Nelly Furtado, The Tragically Hip, Loud Luxury and Zeds Dead will all be featured on a FIFA World Cup-themed album, with proceeds going to support the foundation’s youth soccer programs.
The Pitch Perfect album will include original songs, re-imagined tracks and genre mash-ups, produced by Canadian Grammy Award winner Boi-1da, best known for his work with Drake (as the in-house producer for the rapper’s OVO Sound label) as well as Rihanna, Eminem and Jay-Z, among others.
It lands as interest in soccer reaches a fevered pitch in Canada, with the World Cup landing here next year, the success of the Canadian Premier League, as well as the Northern Super League’s inaugural season. Reflecting that momentum, Canada is also considered a “critical market” for soccer legend Lionel Messi’s Más+ sports drink brand and was chosen as a stop for his inaugural 1v1 World Crown street soccer tournament earlier this year.
“I’m proud to support Canada Soccer through Perfect Pitch,” multiple June Award-winner Cardin said in a news release Tuesday. “Music and sports both bring people together and it’s amazing to see young athletes inspired to chase their dreams.”
Additional artists, song releases and activation details will be released in the coming months.
Infinity & plans to amplify cross-promotional and activation opportunities across key entertainment and cultural platforms globally to support the Canada Soccer Foundation and help elevate Canada Soccer’s brand beyond sport.
“We’re thankful to the artists who’ve stepped up to be part of this project,” Samantha Rogers, VP of philanthropy at Canada Soccer, said. “Together, they’re helping us tell the story of our sport in a new way, one that is truly representative of Canada.”
