SiteNews and Actual Media merge

SiteMedia launches as a B2B media company offering news, events and business intelligence to Canada's industrial sectors.

(CNW Group/SITE Partners)Canadian publication SiteNews and Canadian publisher Actual Media are merging to form SiteMedia, a B2B media company catering to Canada’s industrial sectors. The new entity will offer advertising opportunities across news content and events, serving the construction, water, environment and infrastructure sectors.

The merger, according to the companies, combines SiteNews’ digital-first approach with Actual Media’s 20-year expertise in publishing, events and marketing in these industries.

On launch, SiteMedia’s team (some of whom are pictured above) will consist of 27 employees, and the new entity will comprise more than 25 events and six standalone publications: SiteNews, along with Actual Media brands ReNew Canada, which focuses on infrastructure renewal and management; Water Canada, which covers water-related news and developments; Environment Journal, which covers environmental reporting and news; Waste & Recycling, which focuses on the waste and recycling industries; and Hazmat Management Magazine, which covers hazardous materials management and safety.

“Readers love us for our deep industry specialization, and advertisers love us for connecting with a niche, engaged audience,” said SiteNews chief growth officer Brett Rutledge.

SiteNews is the media arm that was added in 2022 to SitePartners, a full-service agency based in B.C. and Ontario that specializes in the industrial sector since 2018, offering strategy, brand, creative and production services. Also in 2022, the agency added recruiting agency SiteTalent and movie studio SiteStudio to expand capabilities and solutions for its B2B clients.

“When we launched SiteNews, the goal was simple: to give Canada’s construction and industrial sectors a modern news source – a place to connect, collaborate and showcase everything that makes our industry special,” said SiteMedia CEO Andrew Hansen, who is also the founder of SitePartners. “But as we looked ahead, we saw a bigger opportunity to create something with even more reach, more impact and more ways to connect people across industries.”
