In an internal memo sent to MiC’s sister publication, Playback Daily on Thursday (May 23), employees at Bell Media were informed of several shifts in senior leadership.

The memo, sent jointly by Bell Media president Sean Cohan and group president, consumer and small & medium business (SMB) Blaik Kirby began with the news that Bell Media veteran Stewart Johnston will step into a new role as senior VP, content and sales.

Johnston’s new remit includes overseeing content creation and delivery for all Bell Media English- and French-language video, audio and digital platforms across Canada, including all local and national news programming. He will continue his leadership across all sports content including TSN, RDS and other Bell Media channels, while overseeing advertising sales.

“[Johnston’s] expanded focus will provide a complete content view across all of our platforms and allow us to build our industry lead and digital momentum,” the memo read.

In another move, Karine Moses, the current senior VP of content development and news, will take on the role of senior VP of SMB and internet companies group (ICG). She will also continue in her position as vice chair, Québec, where she will guide business in the province, including partnerships, content and other initiatives.

During Moses’ eight-year tenure, she helped spearhead the launch of Noovo and Crave in French, and helped spearhead a deal with Warner Bros. Discovery, which led to Crave becoming the home of HBO and Max in Canada.

The memo also mentioned Kevin Cluett will move from consumer and SMB to Bell Media, where he will take on the role of senior VP of distribution, out of home (OOH) and direct to consumer.

Other staff news included Jan Kestle, founder and president of Bell affiliate Environics Analytics (EA), will now report directly to Cohan; Nauby Jacob, will continue in his role as senior VP of product platforms (Bell Media) and consumer products (Consumer and SMB); and the recent addition of Jonas Nwuke, VP, Bell Media, who leads strategy, planning, and partnership initiatives.

All changes take effect on June 12.
