The Dragons are trying their hand at branded content this Sunday with the airing of a special episode in conjunction with Shell Canada called the Dragons’ Den Future Now Energy Innovation Special.

The special episode, which will air June 3 at 8 p.m. will feature three finalists battling for the title of having Canada’s brightest energy innovation, and $100,000 in prize money from Shell Canada.

Shell Canada providing the backing money to the winner is a turn for the show, which usually sees the Dragons fronting the cash for entrepreneurs who come through the Den. The seventh season of Dragons’ Den airs this fall, Wednesday nights at 8 p.m. on CBC, with new Dragon David Chilton taking over from Robert Herjavec who left the show after season six.
