CBC/Radio-Canada has inked a side-deal to make TVA Sports a cable broadcaster of the 2014 Winter Olympics from Sochi, Russia in 2014.
Through the deal, TVA Sports will air portions of CBC/Radio-Canada’s coverage of the Sochi Games as the Canadian rights holder.
“TVA Sports will be giving viewers the opportunity to get an up-close look at this major international competition and follow how Canada’s and Quebec’s athletes fare in their Olympic disciplines,” TVA Group president and CEO Pierre Dion said in a statement Thursday.
CBC/Radio-Canada executive VP Louis Lalande said the TVA Sports deal helps the public broadcaster build as wide an audience as possible for its 2014 Sochi Games coverage.
