Big winners in Canadian fall 2014 TV season revealed

CTV has top-rated TV series in The Big Bang Theory returning to Thursday nights and Gotham as the most-watched new show.

There’s no cliffhanger ending in view for the fall 2014 TV season.

Seven weeks in, CTV has emerged with The Big Bang Theory returning as the most-watched TV show among Canadian viewers, and the top-rated new show, the Batman prequel Gotham, on Monday nights.

Numeris data reveals Bell Media’s CTV has the top-five most-watched shows, leading off with The Big Bang Theory with 3.49 million average overall viewers, Criminal Minds in second with 2.72 million total viewers, Gotham in third with 2.71 million 2+, The Flash at 2.69 million viewers and Castle at 2.66 million total viewers.

The Global Television stalwart NCIS took sixth place among Canada’s most-watched TV shows, season-to-date, with 2.63 million viewers, according to Numeris.

Shaw Media also had the spin-off NCIS: New Orleans in eighth place with 2.4 million total viewers, and Survivor: San Juan del Sur in ninth place with 2.27 million total viewers.

The top-rated show for Rogers Media’s City network was Scorpion, in 22nd place in the 2+ demo with 1.6 million viewers.

Among rookie shows, Gotham is Canada’s top-rated new show season-to-date for CTV, which also had The Flash in second place with 2.69 million viewers and How to Get Away With Murder at 2.4 million total viewers.
