BV! Media, an ad network that includes over 400 websites and the popular French-language news portal Branchez-vous.com, will soon fall under the Rogers Media digital umbrella.
Rogers announced today that it has entered into an agreement to acquire all of the issued and outstanding shares of the Montreal-based media company for about $25 million, or $0.40 in cash per share.
The deal will give Rogers Media greater reach in the Francophone market, Claude Galipeau, SVP, GM, digital media, Rogers Media, commented in a release.
‘Upon closing, Rogers Digital Media will have an impressive set of content offerings and digital sales solutions, including premium brands, exclusive sales inventory on partner sites, channels targeting key demographics and performance media,’ he said.
The BV! Media network includes inventory of Quebec-based and Francophone-targeted sites, such the online home of French-language newspaper Le Devoir, as well as Canadian inventory on sites such as About.com and Telegraph.co.uk. According to the BV! Media website, the network receives 16 million unique visitors per month in Canada. Branchez-vous.com draws approximately 800,000 UMVs per month, BV! Media president Patrick Pierra told MiC in an interview in February.
A shareholder meeting to vote on the deal will be held in September 2010 and if it is approved, the transaction should close shortly after, the release states.
In the meantime, advertisers on the network can expect business as usual, Jan Innes, VP, public affairs, Rogers Communications, confirmed with MiC this morning.
