Figure skating fans finally get to judge

Figure skating can be a controversial sport, like any, when it comes down to the tough calls. For the first time this year, viewers at home can go online and vote for their favourites from the 2007 BMO Canadian Championship. And the best of the best, according to fans, gets shown during the final broadcast.

TSN.ca is implementing a new ‘popular vote’ feature for the first time aimed at getting viewers engaged online when the 2007 BMO Canadian championships wrap up on Jan. 21. TSN Broadband will make the winning performances available on-demand after the championships, inviting viewers to joing the BMO Canadian Championships Popular Vote. The performance that receives the most votes will be shown during the Parade of Champions Gala telecast on Jan. 27.

Last year’s Canadian Championships attracted 698,000 viewers to CTV and 169,000 to TSN. About 651,000 viewers tuned in to the Parade of Champions Gala on CTV. This year, TSN and TSN HD will air the championships at 7:30 pm ET on Thursday, Jan. 18 and Friday, Jan. 19. CTV will broadcast the competitions at 3 pm and 7 pm ET on Saturday, Jan. 20 and at 1 pm ET on Sunday, Jan. 21. CTV will air the Parade of Champions Gala at 7 pm ET on Saturday, Jan. 27. Traditional broadcast opportunities are still available within the BMO Canadian Championships on both TSN and CTV.
