Tweens hijack magazine in new sitcom for Family Channel

The Family Channel has commissioned Toronto prodco Decode Entertainment to shoot a new tween sitcom by the director of Everybody Loves Raymond and The Drew Carey Show.

The Family Channel is targeting tweens with The Latest Buzz, a new 13-part, half-hour sitcom about a staff of teenagers who take over a youth-oriented magazine. The comedy is currently shooting in Toronto under noted director Brian Roberts (Everybody Loves Raymond, The Drew Carey Show).

The Family Channel commissioned the series from Toronto-based Decode Entertainment. Executive producer, show runner and creator Brent Piaskoski says he’s hoping to secure a fall timeslot. Piakoski, who won a best youth series Gemini for Radio Free Roscoe in 2005, says the series will wrap at the end of March.
