Second time around for Ground

Home reno guru Debbie Travis will be back on air this month with a second and slightly tweaked season of From the Ground Up.

Home decor celebrity Debbie Travis returns to Global this month with a second and slightly tweaked season of From the Ground Up. The home design series (10×60) bows on May 31, this time with 14 hopefuls competing to be chief designer of her new line of homes and condos. The series will take over the Thursday 9:00 pm ET slot previously filled by Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader? and Deal or No Deal?

The show appears to be setting the bar higher than in season one, which was hung on the premise that young people have poor work ethics. It aired last summer to a season average of some 350,000.

Last year, Canadian Tire, retailer of the Debbie Travis Collection of paint and home décor items, was the series’ presenting sponsor, and Tribute Communities was a series sponsor. This year’s sponsors have yet to be announced. From the Ground Up is a coproduction of Seven Steps Productions in Montreal and RTR Media, in which Travis is a partner.
