CTV unveils Princess Diana coverage

The Canada Day tribute to Princess Diana will be wrapped with a week of pre-event programming, a microsite and other multiplatform perks for the live event at Wembley Stadium.

CTV announced the details of its Concert for Diana coverage yesterday. A Princess Diana feature section at CTV.ca is already online, giving viewers a chance to log in and play a ‘Diana Quiz’ and view ‘Six Degrees of Diana’ images plus content about her life, including how Elton John rewrote ‘Candle in the Wind’ to honour the princess at her funeral.

The pre-event programming blitz includes coverage on eTalk, CTV National News and Canada AM. eTalk will produce daily stories airing Monday, June 25 through Friday, June 28 in the 7 pm ET time slot. The CTV Broadband Network and CTV.ca will make each act available online following on-stage performances, along with interviews with fans and celebs.

The day-long tribute to Diana, Princess of Wales, airs Sunday, July 1 from 11 am to 5 pm ET. A one-hour condensed version of the concert will be aired at 7 pm ET. The performances will be led by Canada’s own Nelly Furtado.
