Here are the national winners (for all persons 2+, all times ET), according to BBM/Nielsen for July 16-22.
News and daily shows: CTV Evening News at 6 pm fell two spots to #4 with an average minute audience of 1.138 million viewers (down from 1.22 million on the previous week’s chart). The net’s Jeopardy/Access Hollywood at 7:30 pm fell five spots to #11 with 879,000 (down from 926,000). Global’s National at 5:30 pm stayed at #14 with 832,000 (up from 783,000), while News Hour at 6 pm fell one spot to #16 with 822,000 (up from 769,000). CTV National News at 11 pm fell four spots to #20 with 672,000 (down from 746,000). Global’s The Young & The Restless at 4:30 pm climbed one spot to #21 with 671,000 (up from 615,000).
Monday: CTV’s Victoria Beckham: Coming to America special hit the chart at #15 with 827,000 viewers, winning the 8 pm time slot and the night’s highest numbers. The net’s CSI: Miami at 10 pm fell 11 spots to #17 with 740,000 (down from 914,000). At 9 pm, CTV won with Criminal Minds, which hit #18 with 642,000 (a slight gain from its Tuesday 8 pm audience of 639,000 on the previous week’s chart).
Tuesday: CTV’s Canadian Idol, airing from 8-9:30 pm, kept #1 with 1.355 million viewers (down slightly from its Monday/Tuesday average of 1.379 million the previous week). Global’s Big Brother at 9 pm stayed at #8 with 968,000 (up from 865,000). Global’s House at 8 pm climbed three spots to #25 with 612,000 (up from 558,000).
Wednesday: CTV’s Canadian Idol at 9:30 pm won the night, climbing one spot to #3 with 1.164 million viewers (up from 1.079 million). The net’s 8-9:30 pm So You Think You Can Dance? stayed at #5 with 1.067 million (up slightly from 1.038 million). CTV’s Traveler at 10 pm climbed three spots to #24 with 616,000 (up from 569,000). Global’s American Inventor at 9 pm fell six spots to #29 with 552,000 (down from 569,000).
Thursday: CTV’s So You Think You Can Dance? at 9 pm won the night, climbing one spot to #2 with 1.257 million viewers (up from 1.094 million). The net’s CSI: New York at 10 pm hit #6 with 994,000 (up from 784,000). Global’s Big Brother won the 8 pm time slot, falling one spot to #10 with 913,000 (up from 815,000). CTV’s CSI at 8 pm hit #17 with 811,000 (down from 813,000).
Friday: CTV’s Law & Order: CI at 10 pm kept its title and climbed six spots to #12 with 877,000 viewers (up from 705,000). Law & Order at 9 pm came second, hitting #27 with 597,000. Global’s Bones fell seven spots to #28 with 573,000 (down from 618,000).
Saturday: Nothing to report on the Top 30.
Sunday: Global’s Big Brother at 8 pm won the night, climbing one spot to #8 with 987,000 (up from 798,000). The closest rival was CBC. The Ceeb’s Sunday Night Movie, airing 8-10:50 pm, hit #13 with 849,000. The pubcaster’s audience grew by 10 pm, with 959,000 viewers for the Sunday Night News. CTV’s only showing was Law & Order: SVU at 10 pm, which fell 11 spots to #22 with 664,000 (down from 799,000). Global’s The Simpsons attracted 611,000 at 9 pm, hitting #26, and 552,000 at 7:30 pm, hitting #30.
