Here are the national winners (for all persons 2+, all times ET), according to BBM/Nielsen for July 23-29.
News and daily shows: CTV Evening News at 6 pm climbed two spots to #2 with an average minute audience of 1.16 million viewers (up slightly from 1.138 million on the previous week’s national chart). The net’s Jeopardy/Access Hollywood at 7:30 pm fell one spot to #12 with 918,000 (down from 926,000). Global’s National at 5:30 pm fell two spots to #16 with 804,000 (down from 832,000), while News Hour at 6 pm fell four spots to #20 with 758,000 (down from 822,000). CTV National News at 11 pm climbed three spots to #17 with 784,000 (up from 672,000). Global’s The Young & The Restless at 4:30 pm fell eight spots to #29 with 632,000 (down from 671,000). CBC’s Coronation Street at 7 pm hit #30 on the chart with 612,000 viewers.
Monday: Only two shows hit the chart, and both came from CTV. Canadian Idol kept the #1 spot with 1.32 million viewers (down slightly from 1.355 million on the previous Tuesday night) in the 9 pm time slot. CSI: Miami at 10 pm climbed six spots to #5 with 1.099 million (up from 740,000).
Tuesday: CTV’s America’s Got Talent hit #4 on the chart, winning the night and the 8 pm time slot with 1.105 million viewers. Global’s Big Brother at 9 pm climbed one spot to #7 with 1.037 million (up from 968,000). CTV’s Law & Order: SVU won 10 pm, hitting #9 with 984,000. Canadian Idol‘s 9:30 pm showing hit #11 with 966,000.
Wednesday: CTV’s So You Think You Can Dance?, airing 8-9:30 pm, averaged 1.014 million viewers (down slightly from 1.067 million) and fell three spots to #8. The net’s CSI: New York at 10 pm hit #10 with 975,000 (a boost from Traveler‘s 616,000 in that time slot the week before). Global’s 1 vs. 100 at 8 pm hit #26 with 694,000, while American Inventor at 9 pm climbed one spot to #28 with 661,000 (up from 552,000).
Thursday: CTV’s So You Think You Can Dance? ruled the night, winning the 9 pm time slot with 1.159 million viewers but falling one spot to #3 on the chart. The net’s CSI at 8 pm climbed four spots to #13 with 854,000 viewers (up from 811,000), but Global was close behind with Big Brother, which fell four spots to #14 with 833,000 (down from 913,000). CTV’s Criminal Minds won 10 pm with no competition on the chart, hitting #18 with 766,000.
Friday: Two shows hit the chart, and both came from CTV. Law & Order: CI at 10 pm earned 753,000 viewers (down from 877,000) and fell nine spots to #21. Law & Order at 9 pm stayed at #27 with 688,000 (up from 573,000).
Saturday: Another Saturday without anything to report on the Top 30.
Sunday: Global’s Big Brother at 8 pm climbed two spots to #6 with 1.064 million viewers (up from 987,000). The CBC’s Sunday Night News at 10 pm hit #15 with 832,000 (down from 959,000). Global’s Family Guy earned 766,000 at 9 pm and 736,000 at 9:30 pm (higher than the 611,000 and 552,000 earned by The Simpsons in that time slot on the previous week’s chart), taking #19 and #23. CTV’s Law & Order: SVU at 10 pm earned 745,000 (up from 664,000) and stayed at #22. The Ceeb’s Sunday Night Movie averaged 695,000 (down from 849,000), airing from 8-10:50 pm, and fell 12 spots to #25.
