Toronto-based online ad rep network UpTrend Media has signed a deal to represent Calgary-based TheMompreneur.com, an interactive online mag targeting self-employed moms. The site has about 10,000 monthly readers.
UpTrend Media reports that opportunities for marketers will include partnerships in social media, national sponsorship and local resource guides. The site joins UpTrend Media’s portfolio, which also includes sites such as Piczo.com, Miniclip.com, Mommyclub.ca, CBS.com, CBS News.com, CBSSportsLine.com, CarDomain.com and LaineyGossip.com.
According to Statistics Canada, the number of self-employed Canadian women grew from 744,800 in 1996 to 876,600 in 2006 – an increase of about 18%. Most are between 25 and 54 years old and over half have children.
