Montreal-HQ’d Aeroplan introduced its new music store late last week. Touted as a first in the Canadian loyalty arena, it enables Aeroplan Miles collectors to redeem 6,000 miles for downloads of 50 songs. ‘The Aeroplan music store represents our first step into the world of online digital music,’ explains Craig Landry, VP member products & services.
To kick off its new reward, Aeroplan launched the Fly Away with Michael Bublé contest. Until October 21, one plan member chosen at random will be flown to London with a guest to see the Canadian crooner perform. Partnering with Aeroplan in the initiative is Vancouver’s Hip Digital Media, which provided more than one million licensed songs for the music store.
No ad campaign is planned. Instead, Aeroplan members will be informed via web banners and the company’s Tangerine newsletter, which is delivered via both email and Canada Post. Montreal’s Sid Lee developed the creative for the music store.
