Scotiabank goes pre-game in Hockey Night in Canada

The bank's new pre-game show is set to launch a nationwide outreach to kids.

Scotiabank is sponsoring a pre-game show, Scotiabank Hockey Tonight, for CBC’s Hockey Night in Canada this season. It launches October 6 at 6:30 pm ET. The half-hour show, hosted by Ron MacLean, will precede the first game every Saturday night. As well, Scotiabank Power Stats updates will be integrated into the third period of Hockey Night in Canada.

The new pre-game show will launch by reaching out to kids across Canada. Minor hockey teams will be invited to sign up online at CBCSports.ca/hockey, starting October 4, for the chance to introduce the program through a segment called Scotiabank Hockey Night Kids.

Scotiabank Hockey Tonight will feature two fresh segments: ‘Inside Hockey’ and ‘Viewpoint.’ ‘Inside Hockey’ will tell the stories of the people and places that shape the game of hockey, while ‘Viewpoint,’ hosted by Scott Morrison, will provide news and information developing around the league that day, as well as from the previous week. The ‘Think Hockey’ segment, sponsored by Home Depot, will air during the pre-game show and following Game One.

The CBC’s 87-game sked for the 2007-08 hockey season will include live and online streaming of all games. The eighth annual Hockey Day in Canada on Saturday, February 9, 2008 will again be sponsored by Tim Hortons.

The 55th season of CBC’S HOCKEY NIGHT IN CANADA kicks off Saturday, September 29 at 12 noon ET.
