The reality genre is alive and kicking, judging by what’s coming down the pike this month and next.
The Next Great American Band, a new show from the producers of American Idol, will premiere this evening at 8-10pm ET/PT on A-Channel. The first three episodes will be two-hour specials, with the remaining 60-minute shows beginning Nov. 9 at 8-9pm ET/PT. Competing bands will perform music from different genres each week, and one of them will win a recording contract.
Comedy Network will premiere the critically acclaimed stand-up comedy series Live at Gotham Oct. 22 at 10 pm ET/PT. Each week, a new host will introduce six aspiring comedians on the stage of NYC’s Gotham Comedy Club. Canada’s own Gerry Dee will headline the Nov. 5 episode.
Mindfreak star Criss Angel (pictured) and famed mind-boggler Uri Geller will search for ‘The Next Great Mentalist’ in Phenomenon, premiering Wednesday, Oct. 24 at 8-9pm ET/PT on A-Channel. The series will run for five weeks, with a special two-hour special on Halloween. Hosted by Access Hollywood‘s Tim Vincent, the series will feature 10 contestants demonstrating a wide spectrum of mystifying talents with participation from the audience and weekly celebrity guests. Angel and Geller will assess the contestants, but it’s the audience that will choose the winner, who will take home a grand prize of $250,000. Viewers can also catch the series on SPACE Saturdays at 8 pm ET/5 pm PT, starting Oct. 27.
