HGTV bows winter line-up

The sked includes a Colin & Justin's Home Heist marathon, a weekly programming block about 'flipping' homes, three new series and a two-hour 'fine living' special.

On New Year’s Day, from 12 pm-6 pm ET, a marathon of six episodes from the current season of Colin & Justin’s Home Heist (pictured) will air. Later, the world broadcast premiere of a new episode airs in the show’s regular time slot of 9 pm/10 pm PT.

HGTV’s new theme block ‘Flipping Saturdays’ will offer four hours of programming devoted to buying, renovating and reselling houses and will run from 8 pm-12 am ET, starting Jan. 5. The line-up will kick off at 8 pm with Flipping Out, which follows an LA real estate speculator with a tendency to flip out when under pressure.

Then at 9 pm is Property Developing Abroad, presented by Gary McCausland (How to Be a Property Developer). The show follows 10 Britons trying their hands at becoming property developers in foreign markets. At 10 pm ET is One Year to Pay off Your Mortgage. The series is hosted by property expert Sarah Beeny, who follows several British investors who hope to get their mortgages paid off in one year by investing in what they hope are rising property markets.

Encore episodes of The Big Flip will air at 11pm ET. Renovators Randy McKay and John Stassen take on the challenge of fixing and flipping as many houses as they can in one year. Concluding the line-up is a repeat of Sarah’s House at 11:30pm ET, in which designer/host Sarah Richardson buys and transforms a house, episode by episode.

Several new series are also debuting on HGTV in the New Year. Hammer Heads will air Thursdays at 10 pm ET/7 pm PT, starting Jan. 3. A team of three builders who call themselves ‘hammer heads’ help homeowners complete substantial building projects over the course of a weekend with a $2,000 materials budget.

Another new series beginning Jan. 4 is A New Life in France, airing Fridays at 8pm ET/9pm PT. The series follows a UK couple who try to renovate three new chalets in Biarritz, France, in time for the start of the ski season. A Place in Spain will air Mondays at 10pm ET/7pm PT, beginning Jan. 7. A young couple buys a house in the hills near Barcelona and tries to turn it into a stylish retreat for paying guests.

On Saturday, Jan. 19 from 5pm-7pm ET, HGTV will broadcast two hours of ‘fine living’ programming. An episode of Real Estate Confidential: Grace and Alex – Condo Quest will air at 5pm ET, followed by Mail Order Makeover: Holloway Home Theatre Room at 5:30pm ET. Then at 6 pm ET, there’s a special episode of Dwell: ‘Living in the Modern World.’
