TVA to launch Canada’s first French lifestyle channel

Judging by the net's application to the CRTC, content will concentrate on construction, renovation, gardening, interior design and decorating.

Quebec’s largest French TV network, TVA, is set to launch Canada’s first French-language lifestyle channel.

Although French TV network TVA won’t confirm when the digital channel Télé-Services will be available, a spokesman said it would be in the coming months. While content details have yet to be confirmed, TVA’s application to the CRTC proposed offering a digital service devoted to construction, renovation, gardening, interior design and decorating.

When the CRTC issued the licence in August 2005, Astral Broadcasting – which holds a licence for a similar, yet-to-be-launched channel, Chez moi – expressed concern that Télé-Services would compete with existing services.
