CP24 tops Weather Network during T.O. storm

When snow slowed Toronto to a slippery crawl, residents with weather on the brain turned on the tube.

CTVglobemedia’s CP24 recorded more viewers than the Weather Network when Toronto’s residents turned to the tube for info during Saturday’s winter storm.

The station’s BBM Nielsen numbers for March 8 counted a reach of 1.7 million viewers (6 am to 6 am) who tuned in to some part of the coverage. It was the second-highest audience reach in the station’s history. In Toronto’s central market, CP24 attracted more viewers than The Weather Network’s 1.5 million.

CP24 reports viewers in Toronto tuned in to CP24 several times throughout the day and stayed with the station for extended periods of time to receive the latest breaking information. The station’s team went into full storm watch mode for the day.
