Accountants staging online contest

Numbers may seem tedious to some, but the excitement factor for accounting students is high, thanks to tuition credits, cash prizes for their schools and viral fame.

Nowadays, web fun is coming from even seemingly unlikely places. Case in point: The Toronto-HQ’d Certified General Accountants of Ontario is hosting the high-stakes ‘One-Hour Accounting Contest’ online this Wednesday, March 19.

Open to registered students at Ontario colleges and universities, it will be a fast and furious 60 minutes during which contestants will vie for tuition credits, $5,000 for their schools and viral fame by answering tough questions created by a professional accountant. This is CGAO’s second annual online contest. The first one attracted more than 1,800 contestants, and scored substantial attention from news media across Canada.
