CBC, TSN make for busy weekend

The CBC's Hockey Night in Canada cracked the Top 10, and the pubcaster has reason to be proud of curling as well. TSN's on the chart thanks to the NHL. Along with CTV's averages, weekend programming is heating up the chart.

Here are the national winners (for all persons 2+; all times ET), according to BBM/Nielsen, for March 10-16.

News and daily shows: CTV Evening News at 6 pm hit #7 with an average minute audience of 1.411 million viewers (down from 1.547 on the previous week’s national chart). The net’s Jeopardy/Access Hollywood at 7:30 pm took #12 with 1.157 million (down from 1.207 million). Global National at 5:30 pm hit #22 with 898,000 (down from 927,000). CTV National News at 11 pm took #27 with 848,000 viewers (down from 882,000).

Monday: CTV’s Two and a Half Men hit #8 at 9 pm with 1.355 million viewers and #20 at 9:30 pm with 929,000. The net’s Corner Gas at 8 pm took #9 with 1.23 million, while Medium at 10 pm hit #13 with 1.142 million (down from 1.152 million). Global’s Canterbury’s Law at 8 pm took #24 with 884,000 viewers.

Tuesday: CTV’s American Idol, airing 8-10 pm, stayed at #1 with 2.661 million (up from 2.59 million). The net’s Law & Order: SVU at 10 pm took #6 with 1.448 million (up from 1.439 million). CBC’s Rick Mercer Report at 8 pm hit #23 with 890,000 viewers.

Wednesday: CTV’s American Idol at 9 pm stayed at #2 with 2.284 million (up from 2.272 million in the 8 pm time slot the previous week). The net’s Law & Order at 10 pm hit #4 with 1.802 million (up from 1.595 million), while The Moment of Truth at 8 pm took #19 with 946,000 (down from 1.339 million). The NHL on TSN, airing 7-9:35 pm, hit #28 with 833,000 viewers. Global’s Big Brother at 8 pm took #29 with 832,000 (down from 851,000).

Thursday: Global’s Survivor: Micronesia at 8 pm won the night, hitting #3 with 2.132 million (up from 1.916 million) against CTV’s CSI, which took #15 with 1.03 million. CTV’s Lost at 9 pm took #5 with 1.589 million (up from 1.439 million) against Global’s Celebrity Apprentice, which hit #11 with 1.18 million (down from 1.185 million).

Friday: CTV’s Without a Trace at 9 pm hit #21 with 912,000 viewers.

Saturday: CBC’s Hockey Night in Canada, airing 7-10 pm, hit #10 with 1.227 million viewers (down from 1.255 million). CTV’s Saturday-Sunday average for its weekend news at 6 pm took #14 with 1.047 million (down from 1.215 million). CBC’s Saturday-Sunday curling average hit #17 with 983,000 viewers for the hours of 2:30-6:17 pm. CTV’s Crimetime Saturdays programming took #25 with 867,000 (down from 1.176 million), while W-Five at 7 pm hit #26 with 853,000 viewers (down from 914,000).

Sunday: CTV’s Cold Case at 8 pm hit #16 with 1.026 million (down from 1.094 million), while Oprah’s Big Give at 9 pm took #18 with 982,000 (down from 1.282 million). The net’s Law & Order: CI at 7 pm hit #30 with 825,000 viewers (down from 906,000).
