Global has marked two shows for May premieres and plans to push family movie nights that month.
Swingtown, starring Canadian actor Molly Parker (pictured), is a ’70s show about open marriages which will premiere on Thursday, May 29 in the 10 pm time slot. Originally unveiled during last year’s upfronts, the show comes from producer/writer Mike Kelley (Jericho, The O.C.) and stars Molly Parker (Six Feet Under, Deadwood), Jack Davenport (Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest) and Grant Show (Melrose Place).
The net’s second new series, Durham County, is a Canadian drama starring Hugh Dillon (Trailer Park Boys: The Movie), Justin Louis (Saw IV) and Helene Joy (ReGenesis). The story revolves around detective Mike Sweeney and his family as he hunts a serial killer he’s certain is the guy across the street. The show premieres Monday, May 19 in the 10 pm time slot.
Global also has plans to lead up to the May 22 release of Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull by airing the previous flicks on Wednesday nights in the 8 pm time slot. The Indy trilogy will begin rolling out on May 7 with Raiders of the Lost Ark, followed on May 14 by Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom and on May 21 by Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.
Friday nights will also see Global push the family movie night strategy. The month of May will see the Friday 8 pm time slot filled with Madagascar (April 25), Shark Tale (May 2), Robots (May 16), Cat in the Hat (May 23) and Ice Age (May 30).
