Here are the national winners (for all persons 2+; all times ET), according to BBM/Nielsen, for March 17-23.
News and daily shows: CTV Evening News at 6 pm hit #6 with an average minute audience of 1.467 million viewers (up from 1.411 on the previous week’s national chart). The net’s Jeopardy/Access Hollywood at 7:30 pm took #15 with 1.041 million (down from 1.157 million). Global’s The Young & The Restless at 4:30 pm hit #22 with 860,000 viewers for its Monday, Tuesday and Friday airings. CTV’s Dr. Phil at 5 pm took #28 with 796,000, while CTV National News at 11 pm hit #29 with 796,000 viewers (down from 848,000).
Monday: CTV’s Dancing with the Stars, airing 9-9:32 pm, hit #3 with 1.93 million. The net’s Medium at 10 pm took #10 with 1.343 million (up from 1.142 million), while Corner Gas at 9:30 pm took #13 with 1.162 million (down from 1.23 million in the previous Monday’s 8 pm time slot). Global’s Canterbury’s Law hit the chart at #27 with 798,000 viewers (down from 884,000).
Tuesday: CTV’s American Idol, airing 8-10 pm, took #1 with 2.556 million (down from 2.661 million), while Law & Order: SVU at 10 pm held a strong #7 with 1.428 million (down from 1.448 million). CBC’s Rick Mercer Report at 8 pm hit #14 with 1.062 million (up from 890,000). Global’s NCIS at 8 pm took #16 with 936,000 viewers, while Big Brother at 9 pm hit #26 with 822,000.
Wednesday: CTV’s American Idol at 9 pm took #2 with 2.244 million (down from 2.284 million), while Law & Order at 10 pm hit #4 with 1.797 million (down from 1.802 million). Global’s Survivor: Micronesia at 8 pm hit #5 with 1.546 million (down from 2.132 million in the previous week’s Thursday 8 pm time slot) against CTV’s Moment of Truth, which took #17 with 917,000 (down from 946,000). Global’s Big Brother at 9 pm hit #19 with 884,000 (up from 832,000 in the previous week’s 8 pm time slot).
Thursday: CTV’s Lost at 9 pm hit #8 with 1.421 million (down from 1.589 million) against Global’s Celebrity Apprentice, which took #11 with 1.203 million (up from 1.18 million). CTV’s CSI at 8 pm hit #12 with 1.176 million (up from 1.03 million) against Global’s Deal or No Deal, which took #21 with 880,000. CTV’s Eli Stone at 10 pm hit #23 with 850,000 viewers.
Friday: No primetime winners to report.
Saturday: CBC’s Hockey Night in Canada Game One, airing 7-10:03 pm, hit #9 with 1.378 million (up from 1.227 million), while Game Two, airing until 1:06 am, took #30 with 790,000. CTV’s weekend evening news at 6 pm took #20 with a 883,000 Saturday-Sunday average (down from 1.047 million), while the net’s Crimetime Saturdays programming at 10 pm hit #24 with 848,000 (down from 867,000).
Sunday: CTV’s Oprah’s Big Give at 9 pm hit #18 with 908,000 viewers (down from 982,000). Global’s Big Brother at 8 pm took #25 with 822,000 viewers.
