Desperate Housewives returns to chart
BBM/Nielsen Top 30 – April 7-13

After a long absence from the Top 10, CTV's Housewives returned to Sunday nights with a #7 showing worth a 1.763 million average.

Here are the national winners (for all persons 2+; all times ET), according to BBM/Nielsen, for April 7-13.

News and daily shows: CTV Evening News at 6 pm hit #13 with an average minute audience of 1.326 million viewers (down from 1.444 million on the previous week’s national chart). CBC’s NHL Playoffs took #14 with 1.299 million for a Wednesday-Sunday, 7-10 pm average, while the Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday 10 pm airings took #21 with 965,000 viewers. CTV’s Jeopardy/Access Hollywood at 7:30 pm hit #19 with 1.042 million for its Tuesday and Friday airings. Global National at 5:30 pm took #27 with 835,000. CTV National News at 11 pm hit #29 with 822,000.

Monday: CTV’s Dancing with the Stars, airing 8-9:32 pm, hit #3 with 1.974 million (up from 1.871 million). The net’s Medium at 10 pm took #10 with 1.453 million, while Corner Gas at 9:32 pm hit #18 with 1.076 million (up from 962,000). Global’s House at 8 pm took #23 with 922,000 viewers (up from 888,000).

Tuesday: CTV’s American Idol at 8 pm hit #2 with 2.438 million (down from 2.647 million). The net’s Dancing with the Stars took #6 with 1.784 million in the 9 pm time slot (up from 1.715 million). Global’s NCIS at 8 pm hit #9 with 1.471 million (up from 1.039 million). CTV’s Law & Order: SVU at 10 pm took #16 with 1.109 million (down from CSI: Miami‘s 1.945 million in that time slot the previous week). Global’s Boston Legal at 10 pm hit #24 with 917,000 viewers.

Wednesday: CTV’s American Idol Special, airing 7:30-10:09 pm, hit #8 with 1.508 million (down from American Idol‘s 2.143 million in the previous week’s 9 pm time slot). The net’s CSI: New York at 10:09 pm took #12 with 1.329 million (down from 2.047 million). Global’s Big Brother at 8 pm hit #30 with 808,000 (down from 812,000).

Thursday: CTV’s CSI at 9 pm stayed at #1 with 2.881 million, down from 3.021 million). Global’s Survivor: Micronesia took #4 with 1.901 million (down from 2.01 million). CTV’s American Idol at 8 pm hit #5 with 1.81 million, while ER at 10 pm took #11 with 1.331 million (up from Eli Stone‘s 984,000 the previous week). Global’s The Office hit #25 with 891,000 viewers.

Friday: CTV’s Ghost Whisperer at 8 pm hit #17 with 1.077 million (down from 1.161 million) against Global’s Numb3rs, which took #22 with 963,000 viewers.

Saturday: Other than the multi-night hockey averages, there were three Saturday night averages on this week’s chart. CTV Evening News weekend programming’s 6 pm Saturday-Sunday average hit #20 with 1.014 million (down from 1.139 million). Global’s 3:30-7:40 pm Saturday-Sunday average for the Masters hit #26 with 848,000 viewers. CTV’s Crimetime Saturdays programming at 10 pm took #28 with 831,000 viewers.

Sunday: CTV’s Desperate Housewives at 9 pm hit #7 with 1.763 million viewers, while Oprah’s Big Give at 8 pm took #15 with 1.118 million.
