RDS set a record with the number of viewers who tuned in for the fifth playoff game (Montréal Canadiens v. the Boston Bruins) last Thursday night – which ranked as the most-watched program in RDS history.
An average audience of 1.737 million viewers watched the game. Audience levels peaked in the third period at 2.33 million. The net dominated the night with a 50% market share.
RDS’s previous audience high – 1.736 million – was only days earlier, when the two teams played game two the previous Saturday.
The average audience for Canadiens’ playoff games this season on RDS is 1.591 million. The first round of games in 2006 achieved an average of 1.189 million viewers.
